Dr. Shakespeare

Shakespeare's smithy plays, plots and poems forged:
Dross words consumed and golden speech refined.
But when upon this feast we have us gorged,
At times wish, "Had we on lighter fare dined!"

Here, then, I offer some linguistic snacks:
The poetry of the Cat in the Hat,
Fox in Socks, Horton's Who, Sneetches, the Zax;
Great verse, although terse, the Doctor begat.

What inspiration Shakespeare induces!
But at times, try the rhymes that are Suesses.

-Aaron Adam Holt

I do not like this poem's pith;
Let me quit this place forthwith!

Footnotes:

*It's not iambic pentameter, but each line has 10 syllables. Nifty, no?
